Silence, scents and the sound of the sea on the horizon: our guests can enjoy the vegetable garden in an unique way
The vegetable garden is the space protected from the wind and prying eyes. It has always been the hortus conclusus of the convent.THE HISTORY OF IL MONASTERO
Peace and contemplation
Thanks to its private and secluded position, the vegetable garden is an oasis of peace, where you can lose yourself in the flowered paths, rest in the shade of the pergolas and on the stone benches, or read on the lawn, enjoying the ever-changing views.
A vegetable garden that is also a garden
Many of the vegetables used in the Bistro and Restaurant are grown by our farmers within the walls of the castle: this was the main source of income for the Poor Clares of the convent over five hundred years ago.THE RESTAURANT: LA CUCINA DEL MONASTERO
THE BISTRO: LA CAFFETTERIA DEL MONASTERO
Agavi, yucche and euphorbia combine with the vineyard, which is bordered by mastic and myrtle, and prickly pears sprouting from the ancient dry stone walls. Olive and carob trees accompany us along paths rich in history, in shady corners, now sunny, where the scent of salt combines with the aromas of medicinal herbs, sage and rosemary.
